Municipal Development Planning Commission, Chongqing Cybercity Sci-tech and Alfacom have jointly launched the Chongqing Planning Exhibition Gallery on September 30, 2005 from 8am to 9:50am at Chao Tian Men Square. The attendants were representatives from various provinces; the consulate general from various countries and the leaders of Chongqing including but not limited to Huang Zhendong、Huang Qifan、Xing Yuanmin and Yu Yuanmu. There are approximately 200 guests attended this inauguration ceremony. After the ceremony, the center was opened to the public.
Chongqing city planning exhibition center is one of the most significant cultural facilities and is built and designed for the 2005 Asia Pacific Cities Summit. The center is located at the lower level 1 to lower level 4 of the Chao Tian Men Square with gross area more than 60,000 square feet and the show room covers more than 30,000 square feet. This exhibition center is the largest and most developed one in China.
The exhibition center has adopted a number of innovative techniques of which techniques were the pioneer in China particularly the 13 interactive games which were designed by Alfacom. "New city planning","own town renew", "city planning chess" allow you to design your hometown; "Searching home", "Chongqing Ride", "Million-miles eyes", "A glance of river city", "Chongqing in bird’s-eyes" allow everyone to come and participate no matter they are professional, non-professional, adult, children or tourist.
Chongqing Planning Exhibition Gallery has awarded the 5 of the best -
1. The largest exhibition center – The gross area is 60,000 square feet, well exceed the exhibition centers in Shanghai and Beijing.2. The fastest construction – Designed by the end of 2003, the government approved at the beginning of 2004, May 2004 commenced re-engineering, May 2005 officially started work and end of Sept 2005 opened to the public.
3. The most diversified contents – It displayed the central district; the 40 provinces and the emergent of the city planning of Chonqing – the national level of city planning.
4. The largest quantities of models – There are around 30 models and it contained the largest model in China. The largest model has 892 square feet, that base on scale of 1:750 and 1：600. The model displayed vividly the Year 2020, the landscape between Liang Mountain and Tong Luo Mountain in Chonqing city that large 702 square miles. Moreover, it surrounded by 200 square meter satellite picture.
5. The highest extent on the use of technology – despite the central control system, the center also manipulated advanced technologies including surround sound, light, electricity, interactive games, imaging illusion, contemporary visual and audio effects in order to create a first class international level center.
Since the opening of the Chongqing city planning exhibition center, it has attracted more than ten thousand visitors.
